 everyone else on this list):

 1) Who first introduced you to Salinger (or did you
 discover him on your own)?

 2) How old were you and what was the first one you
 read?

 3) If you have kids, what age do you think is a good
age to pass on these stories to them?

1) My Ex-Girlfriend gave me a copy of _Catcher_ for my 16th birthday.

2) I read _Catcher_ when I was 16, and then immediately read all of his
works after that. I'm now at the tender, young age of 18, so I've had an
enlightened 2 years...

3) I think I'd want my kids to read _Catcher_ when he/she was 12 or 13, and
then wait a few years (maybe 14 or 15) for them to get into the Glass saga.
Of course, when they are little, I might read them some of the less-complex
stories (bedtime reading??) like _The Hang of It_ and _The Varoni Brothers_.
