Hi guys,

I've been lurking for a while and not reading many posts due to mucho
work, but I've been thinking of y'all.

My daddy :-). He read TLM to me when I was pretty little - maybe 10 -
and I think we might also have read Esme to me.

About 10. After my dad read to me I read "For Esme" (sorry, sorry...
Nine Stories) by myself, particulary TLM, Esme, and Teddy (since they
are about children), then left it a couple years, read Catcher and
really caught the bug. APart from the underpublished stories - which I
have just started to work my way through - I left RHTRBC and S:AI until
last.

Well... I don't have kids... I guess I was possibly a bit precocious,
and it wouldn't necessarily be good to introduce most kids so young. My
dad just visited my niece (his grandaughter, obviously) who is ten now,
and he said that although she is really bright and loves reading, she
probably wasn't quite ready. Having said that, TLM works so well on
different levels that I would say 10 is about right - it just means
that the actual story of the Laughing Man is more interesting than the
plot surrounding it. ANd12 or 13 is good for reading Catcher.

Well, I'm not sure yet if I might slip back into lurkerdom for a while,
but my love to all. And welcome to the list, all the newbies
(Charlotte, Kate, Gabe). ALways nice to hear new voices.

Love, lucy-Ruth
