I haven't the slightest doubt that if I were to join
Bananafish as a newcomer this morning I'd align myself
alongside Suzanne - without even having to think about it.
(Though I'd have to be ask to be excused co-membership
of the Wahlbrinck Appreciation Society. My sense of
    the ridiculous is not ALL-embracing.)

The Oldest Inhabitant with the professionally twinkly smile
& the carefully contrived air of absent-minded malice deserves
a good kicking. Believe me, Suzanne, I'd be the first to take
turns with you in holding him while the other had a go.

Although you have - really - mistakenly read my self-mockery
    at its face value ('…setting too high a standard…'), I don't
blame you for doing so. I always make the jokes just a little
    too ambiguous.

Don't dream of relenting. It's the very last thing I myself
    ever consider.

    Scottie B.
