Tim, your posts were very clear and non-threatening. (The threat reference
was regarding Scottie's "sabre-rattling," as Mattis called it.)

This is a very kind note and I like and agree with the olive branch image.
We are all fans of a writer who has strong opinions and a diffident,
idiosyncratic character. Somehow from that, I like the idea that we can
exist together on the list with strong opinions and odd differences. A list
that Holden Caulfield could be a member of, usually comfortably and in good
standing. More to the point, if you look in Holden's mind, there are all
sorts of contradictions and fights and stops and turns but he's damn cool,
overall. That's sort of a concept I get imagining that olive branch.
