'... How strange. A list where people apparently prefer
to discuss things they haven't read and don't want to read.
    Fascinating ...'

Gosh, John, that 'fascinating' is pretty heavy-duty irony,
    all right.

I don't understand your bewilderment. Who else would
sign up for a list where the core material consists of no
more than one brief novel, three novellas & a score of
very - thank God - short stories?

    Scottie B.

It's risk assessment time, what is the risk of discussion? That the
material is misunderstood. What is the risk of not discussing? That the
material is percieved by those asking as valueless or valuable to a small
audience with arcane interests. Open communication is now suspect, ideas
are controlled. The material is ultimatley ignored by most. Now (using
John O.'s motive monocular, picture Colonel Klink)why would one choose to
avaoid the risk in the first case? A. Fear that the material will not be
well recieved (ego). B. Fear to allow 'students to make mistakes. C. The
meterial is highly valued (revered) and any misunderstanding would
disrespect it.

A and B are human nature, ok. Now C implies that somehow somethings are
more sacred than others, ok, this can be true, then admit it and we'll move
on.

Now of course we can read ourselves, and some of us have but the real
questions are that we don't see the value in it that you do and we are
asking you to show us what you see.
