i just got done watching The Deer Hunter, and i have concluded
that *all* [Vietnam] war movies are anti-war movies. i am not sure - i
think Bickle's wandering around new york city is what drives him to stalk
the politician. if you wanted to compare it to catcher, maybe his violent
rampage at the end of the movie is his way of wiping the "fuck you" off of
the elementary school building. a long time ago we were talking before
about films that may in some way have been similar to catcher, and Taxi
Driver was brought up.
