As a matter of fact, I was in the bookstore yesterday (big surprise) and saw
a set of books-on-tape called "The Authors Read" or something to that
effect. It was a three CD set of Hemingway, Joyce, and (someone whose name
escapes me at the moment) reading their own work. The Joyce tape contained
snatches from _Finnegans Wake_ *and* _Ulysses_.

I nearly bought it, but I hate books on tape. It's the real thing or
nothing for me. (Oh yes, you may call me a snob and I shall agree,
wholeheartedly.)

Oh, and read _Ulysees_ by June 16? Good luck, buddies, especially if your
days are anything at all like mine. I once read that if Dublin were leveled
tomorrow, they would be able to rebuild it perfectly (at least to how it
looked in 1904) based strictly on the description rendered in _Ulysees_. I
should love to be there on some Bloomsday to raise a glass at Davy Byrne's,
but fate does not decree that it should be this year.

Good to see you back, Matt K. I'd love to hear more about parallels between
"Uncle Wiggly" and "The Dead". Care to expand?

As a matter of fact, hooray for this wonderful flurry of Friday posts. (Do
you think that this means that the rubble has finally cleared?)

Regards,
Cecilia.
