I think _Dubliners_ is a almost as fine a collections of stories as
Salinger's _Nine_.

In some ways I wonder if Salinger wasn't heading toward new regions of
consciousness in his unpublished, vault stored manuscripts? I think of the
ways Virginia Woolf and James Joyce advanced the novels into new fictive
horizons but how I now want to reread only their short stories...
