I find it interesting to hear the recorded voice of any writer I have read.
Yet, also, I find it interesting which authors choose _not_ to have their
voices captured for posterity. Samuel Beckett comes first to mind. Even
Rilke had the chance to, but declined. (I think it should be noted that the
voices of both of these writers have been described in print as quite
special to listen to; so no squeaks or croaks here.) And, of course, JDS.

In my own mystery voice, I'll now say I think a short interchange from Dec.
'99 deserves to appear once again:

Unusually distinguished, and delivered through one of the finer sets
of teeth seen
northeast of Yankee Stadium, a Voice of Authority, as Buddy Glass might
say.
