Nah, that's not what I'm advocating or describing.  What happens if the
government decides to take away your rights, regardless of the vote,
apart from the passage of laws?  In other words, I'm describing an
extreme situation, one similar to the situation  America's founding
fathers were in.  They recognized the fact that they could only pull off
a successful revolution because they themselves were armed.  So they made
provisions allowing for a future revolution should a future incarnation
of the American government become as oppressive as the government they
threw off.

Given the current nature of American society, I can't imagine this ever
happening.  Not for a minute.  But I still want the option open.  To be
able to defend myself as I see fit with force something comprable to the
force being exercised against me -- if necessary.  I don't own a single
firearm, but I sure don't want anyone else's taken away, if they haven't
demonstrated mental instability and have been otherwise responsible.
