Thank you. I came back to work today to find 64 emails, mostly about
bananafish stuff. It was a relief to read your message. All weekend I
had this "sick in the stomach feeling" about the list.
It's changed my life - well it's made me read and reread Salinger again
and again - and given me a much greater appreciation of different levels
of thought in his work.
I feel so nervous about writing anything to the list because I feel in
awe of the ideas and people behind some of the exchanges. And then, to
finally try to say something vaguely coherent and get shouted down by
someone else was just misery making.

So thanks. I'll stop feeling like Franny, get up off the couch and
write something for the fat lady.

ps My new mobile phone had "Raise High the Roof Beam" keyed into it as
its welcoming message. Is there a cult within Japan and /or is JDS about
to sue Nokkia?
