That's the way I read it too. It seems obvious that Salinger has placed all the clues for us to be able to imagine Teddy being playfully nudged into the pool. What I can't understand is, if the siblings had a swimming lesson that morning, why wasn't there any water in the pool It was a scheduled appointment. LeeAnn
