At least a couple of times in CITR Holden is blind or playing blind. Once
when he was horsing around with Ackley pretending to be blind and once when
he is drunk and is so blind he can barely dial the phone and mentions how
blind he is.
 In the song "Smoke gets in your Eyes" we have:
" They said someday you'll find
All who love are blind
When your heart's on fire
you must realise
Smoke gets in your eyes "

I have read some of the literary criticism of CITR but not all of it by any
means. I was wondering if anyone on the list has seen any of this stuff that
mentions the relationship of this song to Holden?
