John Cheever's story, I've got an audio
copy of the author reading "The Swimmer", on quarter inch magnetic tape that
I'd better transfer onto disc before it disintegrates.... What am I bid for
a copy?
Cheers,

True treasure from the attic indeed!
I just finished reading "The Swimmer" and found it to be a truly mind
blowing most excellent experience. It's not just about the emptiness of
American society or just about a mans passage through the years of his life,
but also is universal in scope in that we are all swimming home, especially
bananafish. : )
This story is in Cheever's "The Stories of John Cheever" 1978 for which he
won the Pulitzer. It's only about ten pages long, yet packed a wallop of
effect on this amateur reader.
