Is this associated with the body of water called the Charlevoix that
runs near Michigan? That was one of Hemingway's favorite fishing
places (it was locally referred to as "the 'Voix") and may (but I am
not sure; my good Hemingway biographies are not at hand) be the river
upon which he modeled the Big Two-Hearted River.

He appropriated that name from a different body of water, presumably
because it sounded so fine, but the description of the river in the
story doesn't match that of the Big Two-Hearted. (In terms of this
knowledge, I am indebted to Peter Griffin's wonderful three-part
biography of Hemingway, the first volume of which [Along with Youth]
covers Hemingway's time growing up in Michigan.)
