Hey Will!
I was actually asking more whether Salinger went to Montreal before writing
DD-SBP. I can't remember when it was first published (or where, if not the
New Yorker), but since Nine Stories came out in 1953, any 'research' on the
setting would have had to preceed that.
(I guess the subtext, or the context or the pretext or whatever of my
question is that the story--which I love--is set somewhere that doesn't feel
much like Montreal. So I'm looking for an excuse to explain why Jerry, er,
failed....
