What a pleasure to see the migrants come flying
north once more, bringing their promise of dark
evenings with the curtains drawn, the muffins warming
by the fire, the gas lamps coming on along the winter
streets & the little ones watching Nanny switch on
the computer while waiting for the mailbox to fill.
