I don't think this is anything Time-Warner has done to the books, but is
something JDS has reqested or demanded himself. I read somewhere that the
covers should be white and as plain as possible, so that the cover would
not sell the book. Rather, let the book stand on its own merits
or on the reputation of its author, instead of marketing it with a glitzy
cover.
