But, yes, I would more wholeheartedly agree with the idea that J. D.
Salinger is a "heavenly fool who can and does produce beauty" than with,
say, Scottie's description in two of his emails: "... a man who has made
millions parading in public his own contrivances [...,] a handful of now
outmoded short stories and one prescribed textbook."
