Scottie, I'm not sure what you meant by my "00." I'm guessing that 
Nathalie's distaste for college is what you are talking about...dunno.
Believe it or not, I take your barb about crouching down as a 
compliment. I have studied Salinger texts for so long and still enjoy 
myself immensely  when I am reading them, but I also enjoy listening 
to how others respond to the words I have read. If it takes some 
crouching down to listen well, well, that's what good teaching means 
to me. It doesn't mean that stay crouched...indeed, standing tall and 
helping students find their own ways through literary worlds is a 
goal, but not at the cost of ignoring those early steps. Finally, I 
think Salinger is saying that the early steps, the ones not 
influenced by critics or too much schooling may be the most 
insightful one...dunno...but I like keeping my ear close to the 
reading ground, will
