I thought a hedgehog is a bug eating relative to the porcupine, a badger is
a wolverine or "little eremitic bear" who enters the world to eat and mate,
and retires to his den. And if an appendage sticks in his hole a bloody
stump is returned. Like I said hey enjoys a large menu, be it symbol,
interpretation, or meaning (or lack there of).

    '... I guess I am a badger ...'

And such a handsome, droll animal too - though tormented
& hunted here by loathesome sadists who blame him for
the cows' tuberculosis. Our Dairy Science correspondent
will doubtless tell us about the situation in Wisconsin (- why,
    incidentally, 'The Badger State'?)

The division is customarily between hedgehogs & foxes.
You can tell which species predominate hereabouts by
the profusion of shed bristles & squashed carcases.
