My husband (you all know him as Tim O'Connor) and I have two
dachshunds--Zoe and Fred. I can't tell you how many people have asked us
if we named them after the Salinger book "Franny and Zooey," which they
always pronounce as Zoe. We usually smile and say, "No," and explain that
we named Fred after E.B. White's dachshund, who was named Fred. As for
Zoe, it means life in Greek, and Zoe was just the most curious puppy.
Hence the name.
