a poem - lovely as a tree

It would be more or less impossible to be less interested
than I am in the image of an inverted tree which - no matter
how exotic its origin in Indic writings - seems, nonetheless,
an awkward & unbeguiling one. But even to ME, there's
all the difference in the world between an inverted tree
& an inverted forest. But, as I said before, Salinger is never
satisfied with one perfect word where twenty contrived ones
    can be dragged in.

Now, if it had been Petrified Forests....
