i was never one who could sleep in class. i always
read. i find your good teacher frequency numbers
unfairly high. having to rely on oneself for any sort
of education requires you to define/redefine the
importance of education. there's a really good
passage in franny/zooey about learning for learnings
sake. there are many things wrong with our
educational system and i've even talked with one or
two teachers who openly admitted this. however it is
not likely to change. ever.

(which includes poetry)
is to science
as the
FREE & BEAUTIFUL
catchings of a child
are to the
vile and unreturning
throes of the
hangman."
-from a picture poem by kenneth patchen

i've found english classes about as useful as a wood
chipper when it comes to understanding books.
or change understanding to... loving, enjoying, etc.
