I think that this shows, if it is true (as I hope her claims are) that Salinger is as normal (or ab"normal"(please, carefully note that word, in a very human sense)) as any other human, only he found it possible to write about the human experiences that many other failed to... I hope that Salinger (I can't call him JD, or else I'd get confused...) is a Person (capitalization intended (with his abnormalities, as noted)) , rather than the type of "writer", that many authors today are... (if he had any advantage on humanity, I'd have no reason to read him, as he would simply be beyond me)... One more (I think very important) note to think about: Salinger was, I think, concerned with what the average reader (and I think that most of us are, more or less) thought about his works (as opposed to his critics (hey, if you disagree, just read the dedication to Raise High the Roof Beams, Carpenters, etc...) Has anyone considered that he might even be on this list? JD
