Hi Bernd, welcome to the list (: I was wondering if you read The Catcher in
the Rye in English or its German translation - which I understand was
translated by Heinrich Boll, one of my favourite authors. I have always
wanted to talk to someone who had read both the English and German versions
to see how well the translation was done. I've also noticed certain
parallels with Salinger's `Nine Stories' in Boll's `22 Stories'- especially
`In The Valley of the Thundering Hooves' and `Murke's Collected Silences'.
Are you familiar with these stories at all!

Danke und Guten nacht,

Camille

>>hello
i have just joined the bananafish mailing list and would like to
briefly introduce myself.
i teach english here in germany, and ever since i was a kid of 15 or
so, which is when i read The Catcher in the Rye for the first time,
that novel has turned out to be my all time favourite.
6 weeks ago, out of love for this book, i created a website called
"Catcher in the Rye by J.D.Salinger - and related matters" (url:
http://mitglied.tripod.de/BerndWahlbrinck/index.htm), and while doing
so i came across this mailing list, and joined it immediately.
i look forward to reading and taking part in your discussions.
