Hold off, Scottie!
I made no pretense not to know the song. (I even knew it was by Jerome
Kern--although I hadn't gone so far as suspecting that JDS 'plagiarized' Mr.
Kern's first name.) I just couldn't remember where it popped up in the
novel, and was flabberghasted (which only happens to a person after he/she
turns 40) to learn that it was at the carousel.
It must have been a 'senior moment'.
Cheers,
Paul
PS--I don't think Kiri holds a candle to Monserrat Caballe when it comes of
operatic cross-overs.... Not many divas could share a six-minute song with
Freddie Mercury and emerge on top--so to speak.
