Strangely enough, the first "Buddy-like" writer that comes to my mind is one
of the contemporary masters of NONfiction--Gore Vidal. (Although even in
Vidal's "fiction"--which really DOES require those hortatory quotation
marks--he sometimes effects a sort of intellectual vamp that's often very
reminiscent of Mr. B. Glass. I'm thinking of BURR....)

Since I haven't read Ian Hamilton, let alone the dreaded Maynard, or HEAVEN
FORBID!, the Salingerina, I'll rely on those who have to tell me whether
words were ever passed at a cocktail party between JDS and bloody Gore.

Besides that, WHERE IS EVERYBODY? (Probably either drinking urine, or
reading about it....)

Cheers,

Paul
