there's no comparison between reading 'a perfect day
for bananafish' in a book as opposed to that yellowing
issue of the new yorker. and i might add it's easier
to find some neat new yorker material buried in the
older issues as the magazine did not include a table
of contents until long after salinger stopped
publishing. there's simply a discrete

so one must page through the magazine to find who's
